We are in that special season once again, a season of joy, of peace, and of great tidings. Christmas is celebrated to remember the birth of of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. The name 'Christmas' comes from the Mass of Christ, a mass service where we remember that Jesus died for us and then came back to life.
It is important to keep in our minds the real reason why we are celebrating this season in the first place. We must always remember that our God came in this world to save us from our sins and to redeem us from the wickedness of this world.
The Christmas gift reminds us of how God gave us the gift of His Son and that Jesus Christ gave us the greatest gift of all. Giving gifts is meant to be a symbol of love and kindness and remembrance of the gift of eternal life made possible by our savior.
The essence of celebrating Christmas season for me is not to have a house full of Christmas lights but to have a home, not having a tall and beautiful Christmas tree full of gifts underneath it and giving expensive gifts but having genuine happiness and bright smiles. Christmas basically means sharing what you have, not just the material things but also those that can only be felt like a warm tight hug, a simple thank you, showing our appreciation to our loved ones and forgiveness among others.
